Sleepy Bear
A round-faced bear with a short scarf, great for practicing facial embroidery and simple accessories.
Pattern Notes
- This pattern uses US crochet terms.
- Work in continuous rounds and use a stitch marker to mark the first st of each rnd.
Materials
- 30g brown yarn
- A small amount of cream yarn
- A small amount of red yarn for the scarf
- Fiberfill / stuffing
- Black embroidery thread
- Yarn needle
Abbreviations
- MR: magic ring
- sc: single crochet
- inc: increase
- dec: decrease
- ch: chain
- FO: fasten off
Head
- R1: 6 sc in MR (6)
- Increase evenly to 36 sts.
- Work 7 rnds sc around (36).
- Dec evenly, stuffing firmly before the opening becomes too small.
- Close when 12 sts remain. FO and weave in the end.
Body
- Make the body slightly smaller than the head, with about 30 sts at the widest point.
- Stuff the base a little more firmly so the bear can sit steadily.
- Sew the body to the head with the face centered.
Ears
- Make 2 small rounded ears.
- Sew them near the outer top of the head.
- Keep the seam relaxed so the ears stay softly rounded.
Scarf
- Ch 36.
- Row 1: sc in each ch across.
- Wrap the scarf around the neck and secure it at the back with matching yarn.
